Code.org  (Grades K-5, librarians, computer teachers, seven hours of training.  Can be trained in one day or over several days) 

The content to be covered in the Into workshop includes:
  •  Learning to use both on-line materials as well as paper and pencil lessons.  The lessons inspire confidence and are fun for both teachers and students!
  • Curriculum aligned to Common Core Standards as well as ISTE and CSTA K-12 Computer Science Standards.  
  • Using assessments for the lessons.

  • Review website and answer questions regarding the website
  • Explore the CS Connections portion of the website
  • Explore the CS Journeys portion of the website

Basic Powerpoint and Lesson Planning  (Grades K-12, 3 hour session, up to 2 sessions/day) appropriate for up to fifteen (15) Grade K-12 teachers each session.

The content to be covered includes:

Teachers will create a PowerPoint to be used in their classroom.  It will include objectives/standards, anticipatory sets, assessment pieces, and other best practices material required for a successful lesson.  This is a model teachers can use for other lesson planning.

  • Slide formats
  • Fonts, style, size, text colors, Word Art
  • Backgrounds: Colors, pattern, pictures, clipart
  • Use of textboxes
  • Slide arrangement, transitions, timing
  • Sound
  • Imbedded video
Ideas to use PowerPoint for Classroom Management will be explored.

Introduction to Google (Grades K-12, 3 hour session, up to 2 sessions/day), appropriate for up to fifteen (15) Grade K – 12 teachers each session.

The content to be covered includes:

  • Google applications will be explored.  Included will be: Google drive, Google sites, and Google Earth.  This will include basic functionality, collaboration techniques and research options. 
  • Educational applications will be explored.  During each application exploration, we will discuss classroom application, such as student collaboration, safe research options, and student created products; such as websites, presentations and group documents.
  • In addition, we will discuss classroom management techniques to better utilize and supervise the use of these products.
